BEIJING, Dec. 1, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- China Petrochemical Corporation (Si nopec) has set up a petroleum engineering research institute in Nanjin g, the capital city of China's eastern Jiangsu province, the company-r un Sinopec (NYSE:SNP) News website reported Tuesday.
Sinopec Research Institute of Geophysical Prospecting Technolog y for Petroleum was inaugurated on November 28 in Nanjing. It will ser ve as a technology research and support base for Sinopec's operation w orldwide.
The institute is to focus on development of professional softwa re for geophysical prospecting technology for petroleum, emphasizing o n high-tech projects and basic scientific researches in the petroleum and natural gas sector.
Sinopec, China's largest oil refiner, is the parent company of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (SNP.NYSE; 600028.SH).
