John O'Shea produced his second impressive juvenile winner in as many weeks when debutante Ambers Waltz took out the opening race at Rosehill on Saturday.

O'Shea is building an impressive team ahead of next year's major two-year-old races with the victory by Ambers Waltz in the www.theraces.com.au Hcp (1100m) coming just a week after Solar Charged stamped herself as the benchmark youngster so far this season with an emphatic win at Randwick.

While Solar Charged is already in the spelling paddock with a view to the Golden Slipper, Ambers Waltz will stay in training for a shot at the $2 million Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast in January.

"She will obviously need another run before the race," O'Shea said.

"I know going there is possibly jeopardising getting her ready for the Slipper but (owner) Keith (Biggs) sent her to me with the proviso that she is set to run in that race."

O'Shea said there had been little between Solar Charged and Ambers Waltz on the training track but while he came to Rosehill confident, he wanted to see Ambers Waltz perform under race conditions before making too many plans.

The filly didn't disappoint him or punters who sent her out the $1.85 favourite.

She settled fourth for Corey Brown and finished strongly to score a commanding 2-3/4 length over Poker Night ($8) with leader Derippa ($13) holding on for third 1-1/2 lengths away.

Brown was also taken by the winner's performance and said Ambers Waltz did a lot wrong but still proved too classy.

"She has plenty of upside," Brown said.

"She quickened good, she looked around a lot and didn't know what she was doing or where she was going.

"Once the penny drops she will be a smart horse."

O'Shea didn't hesitate to rate Solar Charged and Ambers Waltz as the best two-year-olds he had trained, despite preparing the former's sire Charge Forward to win a Breeders Plate and run second in Dance Hero's Golden Slipper.

"Yes. By a long way," he said.

However, O'Shea wouldn't be drawn on comparing the two.

"They're different fillies. I've said all along there wasn't much between them at home, they're two good fillies."

O'Shea also revealed he had another exciting youngster who was yet to race, a colt by Oratorio who was being spelled in preparation for an autumn campaign.
