VIVAnews – The world market demand of LNG in 2010 is predicted to increase up to 24 percent. The improving economic condition will trigger the significant increase of LNG demand.
“This condition must be used in full advantage by gas exporter countries like Indonesia,” said BP Plc. Choef economist Chrostof Ruhl in the BP Statistical Review of World Energy 2009 in Jakarta on Friday, Dec. 4.
However, Indonesia unfortunately has to compete with other countries in the LNG development in the future according to Ruhl, especially on the country’s plan to become the first country in the world to produce coal bed methane (CBM).
“Indonesia is not the only country that produces CBM. Now Australia and China are trying to become the first country that can produce LNG from CBM,” he added.
Nevertheless, Ruhl said that Indonesia still has the advantage on strong LNG domestic market.
