Samsung Heavy Industries lands $4.7bn floating LNG order from Shell

SEOUL -- Samsung Heavy Industries will build three floating liquefied natural gas facilities for Royal Dutch Shell, the South Korean shipbuilder said Wednesday.
     FLNG facilities are a new type of maritime vessel that are designed to process natural gas extracted from undersea gas fields into LNG.
     The deal, which covers only the construction of tanker-shaped platforms, is worth $4.7 billion, and are to be delivered by the end of November 2023. The entire cost, including plant facilities, will be determined in the second half of 2016 after the basic designs are set, Samsung said.
