Economist predicts Louisiana energy layoffs will slow, newspaper reports

June 26:

A Baton Rouge economist predicts oil and gas job loss in Louisiana may have reached its peak as crude oil prices settle in at around $60 per barrel this summer, The (Lafayette) Advertiser reports.
Economist Loren Scott told The Advertiser stabilizing rig counts and less volatile oil prices indicate the "biggest part of the layoffs" in Louisiana have taken place.
Louisiana Workforce Commission data shows job losses in the mining category -- which includes oil and gas -- fell below 100 for the second week in a row, the report says.
