Chevron plans update of Wheatstone LNG costs

November 03:

Sydney, 4 November (Argus) — Chevron plans to update the costs of the current A$29bn ($25.23bn) 8.9mn t/yr Wheatstone LNG project offshore Western Australia before its reaches 60pc completion.
It was a typical process for the company to do a mid-project update on costings, said Chevron vice-president and chief financial officer Pat Yarrington.
"I don't have a specific calendar date for that, but it would be a reasonable thing that we would do any time between 40pc and 60pc of when the project is done. So I would say that's coming but I don't have a specific date as to when that will be completed," Yarrington said.
The two-train project was 49pc complete as of 30 September and on track to start first shipments in late 2016. Wheatstone is one of two LNG projects Chevron is currently building offshore Australia with the $54bn, 15.6mn t/yr Gorgon LNG venture expected to start next year.
