BUSINESS COMMUNITY HAILS PETROLEUM PRICE REDUCTION

Sunday, November 02, 2014 - Karachi—The business community has welcomed substantial fall in the prices of petroleum products and termed it a gift from the federal government to the public. Leading businessmen are of the view that this commendable step by the government would help cut household expenses of the common man to a great extent. However, they called upon the provincial governments to take measures for a reduction in transport fares and the rates of daily-use items.

Talking to media, Yahya Polani, the chairman of the Aviation Committee of the Federation of the Pakitan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), said that they are grateful to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his cabinet for a substantial reduction in petroleum prices. He said that the Prime Minister surely understands the problems of the poor. He called upon the authorities concerned to take measures so that common people could be benefited from this price reduction.

Renowned industrialist Zubair Motiwala welcomed the fall in petroleum prices and said it is a good step and it will benefit the poor. He urged the authorities concerned to force the transporters to reduce fares as per the cut in petroleum prices. All Karachi Tajir Itehad’s chairman Atiq Mir also lauded the decline in petroleum prices, which he said would increase economic activities. 

Joria Bazaar Traders Association’s Secretary General Abdul Qadir Noorani said that slashing petroleum prices is a positive development which will facilitate the masses. While All Karachi Anjuman Tajraan’s President Rafiq Jadoon said the business community of the metropolis welcomes this development, which will reduce business cost and improve the economy.
