Ukraine’s Right Sector Still Blocking Lukoil Gas Station

August 04:

MOSCOW, August 4 (RIA Novosti) - Five Lukoilgas stations in Ukraine are operating normally, while one is still blocked by Right Sector fighters, a source in Russian oil-producer Lukoil told RIA Novosti on Monday.

On July 28, it was reported that three of Lukoil’s six gas stations in Ivano-Frankivsk had been blocked by Ukraine’s radical Right Sector movement.
Right Sector fighters blockaded several Lukoil gas stations, demanding about three tons of fuel per month for the Ukrainian Army, according to the source. The blockade was confirmed by the OSCE.
In July 2014, Lukoil agreed to sell its Ukrainian gas stations to Austria’s AMIC Energy Management GmbH. The contract is expected to be signed shortly.
According to the OSCE, Right Sector representatives told staff at the gas stations they would continue their blockade until Lukoil met their demands, or close its businesses in Ukraine.
Members of the Right Sector movement were among those, who clashed with police and seized administrative buildings in Ukraine in January, prior to the February 22 government coup. Moscow has repeatedly called on Kiev to disarm Right Sector.
