Landrieu: Approval Of Jordan Cove ‘Necessary’ For U.S. Jobs

March 24:

Sen. Mary L. Landrieu (D-La.), who is chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said that the Department of Energy's (DOE) approval of the Jordan Cove LNG terminal, in southern Oregon, will help create more domestic jobs and “solidify the U.S. as an energy superpower,” a press release said March 24, the day the terminal permit was approved.
The press release said Landrieu will push for the DOE’s approval of 24 remaining permits. The Jordan Cove terminal permit was the seventh approved by the agency, the press release noted.
“A quick and efficient approval process to responsibly export natural gas from our shores will also reduce the stronghold that countries like Russia currently exercise over their neighbors,” Sen. Landrieu said.
“I appreciate the accelerated pace by which this permit was issued, and I will continue to press for an even more streamlined process in the future,” she added.
The Jordan Cove permit’s approval follows last month’s approval of a permit forSempra Energy (NYSE: SRE) in Cameron Parish, La. that had waited more than two years for DOE approval, the press release said.
