"Bad management costs Statoil dearly," SAFE shop steward says

6. februar 2014

Statoil management outsourcing jobs to low cost countries is just an attempt to cover up mistakes that cost the company dearly," according to Terje Enes. He thinks the right medicine is for the oil company to carry out more work assignments themselves.

Several Statoil cognoscenti now expect the oil company put their ambitious growth plan aside.
Company cash flow is under pressure, and funds to make all the investments and please shareholders are insufficient.
Terje Enes, SAFE SAFE shop steward for the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) at Statoil, is also hoping for new signals from corporate management.
Nevertheless, he fears that the company may be on the wrong path.
"I would like more tasks to be solved using our own employees because it just makes better economic sense for Statoil."
He believes it is important to redress the image created by cost increases on the NCS and overpaid offshore workers.
"We observe that there are two things in particular that drive the personnel costs up considerably. The first is an increase in the hourly rate for what takes place on the NCS over the worker's basic rate of pay. The second is a marked increase in costs relating to external personnel costs," Mr Enes says
