China Shenhua Energy coal output in April down by 1pct YoY

China Knowledge reported that China Shenhua Energy Co Ltd, the listed unit of China largest coal producer, Shenhua Group produced 17.30 million tonnes of coal in April down by 1.1%YoY.

The coal producer sold 23.30 million tons of coal during the month, 5.9% more than in April last year. Coal exports were 600,000 tonnes down by 14.3%YoY.

In April, the Chinese coal giant electricity output was 11.82 billion kilowatt hours, 62.4% more than in the same month of last year. The total volume of electricity sold in the month increased 63.3%YoY to 11.04 billion kWh.

Reportedly, China Shenhua aims to produce 229 million tons of marketable coal and to generate 126 billion kWh of electricity this year, 8.9% and 19.9% more than last year respectively. The firm also expects to see sales of coal grow 7% to 272 million tonnes this year.

China Shenhua raised its output by 13% in 2009 due to increasing demand for energy. Sales volume rose 9.3% to 254.3 million tonnes.
