ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Spokesperson Abdul Basit said on Thursday, that the US is not reluctant to provide civil nuclear technology to Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan was ready to cooperate with other countries in the nuclear field strictly under IAEA safeguards.
During the weekly briefing at the Foreign Office, Basit confirmed that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will visit France and Spain from April 17 to April 20 and then attend the Pak-EU summit on April 21 in Brussels.
Basit said that Pakistan-India dialogue should not be cornered with a single issue like the Mumbai Attacks.
He further added that Pak-India PMs' bilateral meeting in the SAARC summit has not been decided yet.
He also said that it’s a good sign that India was taking a non-discriminatory position on civil nuclear technology.
He added that France was not reluctant to prove nuclear power plants to Pakistan either as both countries were enjoying multifaceted relations from several decades.
The spokesman talked about Pakistan playing its due role in enhancing nuclear security and promoting peaceful use of nuclear technology under IAEA safeguards.
