Azerbaijan to stop natural gas export to Russia

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan continues work for modernization of the gas transportation system of the country.

According to a statement from SOCAR, gas transportation by the main pipeline will be suspended due to elimination of Gabala compressor station from 10.00 until 15.00 on April 13. In addition, the gas transportation by the Mozdok-Gazimagomed gas pipeline (SOCAR exports gas to Russia) will be suspended for a day. The gas supply to Gabala and Devechi regions will be suspended within this period.

SOCAR started export of natural gas to Russia under the contract with Gazprom on 1 January 2010. Through this period the daily supplies have risen from 1.5 to 3 mln cubic meters. 1 bn cubic meters will be supplied in 2010 and 2 bn cubic meters in 2011.
