Azerbaijan, Romania, Georgia to sign memorandum on gas transport

Romania and Georgia will sign an agreement on construction of liquefied natural-gas (LNG) terminal on April 13 in Bucharest.

Memorandum on cooperation in gas sector provides for the construction of liquefied natural-gas terminals in Georgia and Romania.

According to preliminary data, the project is estimated at €4-6 bn.

The agreement will be signed by Azerbaijani, Georgian and Romanian Energy Ministers, Georgian energy ministry reported.

Georgian Energy Minister Alexandre Khetaguri stated that the country will also get extra gas volume.

“Any transit project is critical for Georgia’s economy. In case new project is implemented, Georgia will get additional revenue,” said Khetaguri.

Georgia and Romania signed memorandum on fulfillment of the mentioned project in October 2009, while Azerbaijan and Romania – earlier this year.
