PERTH, April 20 (Reuters) - Exports from Australia's Newcastle port, the world's largest coal export terminal, rose marginally from a week ago, while ship queues remained unchanged, port data showed on Tuesday.
Exports from the eastern coast port, which ships mostly thermal coal used in power plants, edged up 0.4 percent to 1.98 million tonnes in the week to April 19, Newcastle Port said on its Web site.
There were 51 vessels queuing of the port waiting to load 4.1 million tonnes of coal. Waiting time for the ships fell by about two days to an average of 15.87 days, the port said.

Based on producers' export forecast, ship queues were expected to ease to 39 by the end of April, the rail operator Hunter Valley Coal Chain Coordinator said separately on its Web site.
