UPDATE 1-Enbridge restarts Canada-U.S. oil line Thursday

Thu Mar 18, 2010 10:59pm GMT

HOUSTON, March 18 (Reuters) - Enbridge Inc (ENB.TO) said it restarted its 185,000 barrel per day crude Line 65 from Canada to the United States on Thursday after stopping shipments on Wednesday due to maintenance.

"There was planned work that was extended," a company spokeswoman said.

The line was restarted early Thursday, she said.

Line 65 carries light sour crude oil 313 miles (500 km) from Cromer, Manitoba, to Clearbrook, Minnesota.

Enbridge reports volumes carried on its lines with a one day delay via recorded telephone message for shippers.

The Enbridge system, which consists of several pipeline segments linked together, is the major carrier of crude oil from Canada to the United States, serving mainly the Midwest. (Reporting by Bruce Nichols; Editing by Marguerita Choy)
