Egyptian minister heads to Paris for talks on building nuclear station

CAIRO, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Younis Sunday left for Paris for talks with five countries on establishing nuclear power stations in Egypt.

The minister said in a statement that he will hold talks with delegations from five countries, namely China, France, the United States, Russia and South Korea, and choose one to build nuclear power stations.

Egypt will invite tenders for construction contracts by the end of 2010.

Younis will also attend an international conference in Paris on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

Egyptian Parliament is expected to ratify within two weeks the first law regulating nuclear activities in the country.
